Why should I use Pagety instead of a classic hosting solution?

What are the requirements to use Pagety?

You simply need a browser and Internet connection (we assume you're already set given you're reading this).
Pagety was created with Firefox and Safari in mind, but it was tested with Internet Explorer, too. Still, most of the website should work fine even with older browsers.

Can I install Pagety on my server?

Short answer, no. Pagety has a few special requirements so we decided to go with a hosted approach which will be much more convenient for our users.

Why isn't Pagety avaiable in my language?

From the beginning, Pagety was thought to be English-only and the terminology used site-wise is pretty standard, so it should be quite clear even for non-native speakers. We might translate it to other languages in the future, even though it not in the to-do list for the near future.

I have a problem logging in to my Pagety account. What should I do?

First of all, make sure your OpenID URL or username/password are correct.
If the problem persists, you might want to try and delete the cookies for pagety.com.

I think I've just found a bug! What should I do?

Please, report it as soon as possible.

Can I have a look at some websites hosted on Pagety?

Account & Billing

Which plans are available? and how much are them?: You can have a look at the sign-up page.
I have an open source project, can I have a discount?: We are more than happy to help open source projects as we, too, rely on lots of OSS, indeed we are open to create custom plans for open source projects. Just send us an email and we'll get back to you right away.
How can I upgrade/downgrade my account without loosing any of my data?: It's really simple: you should go to Your account details, select the plan you want, click on the 'Pick a plan' button and just follow the simple payment procedure.
How can I change my password?: If you use an OpenID, you should change it on your OpenID provider's website. Otherwise, you can change it by going to Your Details page.
I changed my mind and don't want to use OpenID anymore, what should I do?: You can go to your account details and change you password. You'll then be able to login using your email and the password you just set.
But I can't login using my OpenID, how can I set the password?: You can have a random password submitted to your email, simply ask for it.
Is it possible to try Pagety before I buy it?: We know that if you try Pagety, you'll fall in love with it in a couple of minutes. This is why we decided to create a free plan that allows you to try some of Pagety's features for as long as you want, before you upgrade to a paid plan.
Where can I check how many pages/space/etc. I'm using?: Just go to your 'Subscription' page.
I signed-up to join an existing website, can I join other websites, too, or create a new website with that same account?: Sure, you have to sign-up once and you're then able to manage as many websites as you want.

Are there any limitations on the content I can host on a Pagety website?

You can post almost everything, except for stuff you don't have the rights on, which is illegal, malicious or however offensive. Make sure you read the Terms of Service to make sure you're doing the right thing.

What is my website administration URL? and the public one?

You can manage your website by going to your_subdomain.pagety.com and, if you haven't changed it, the public URL is your_subdomain.pagety.net.

Can I use a custom domain instead of the default pagety.net one?

If your plan allows it, you can change it by going to the 'Settings' tab and change the value of the 'Host' field to the desired hostname. You'll then need to create a CNAME record pointing to your_subdomain.pagety.net on your domain's DNS server. It can take up to 48 hours due to how DNSs work.

How do I add a CNAME record?

You should go to your registrar's administration page and follow the instructions there. It usually is a very straightforward procedure.

Can I export my whole website?

You should go to your account's page and click on the export link next to the website you'd like to export. The exported file is an XML file with all of your website's data inside, except for uploaded files, which you'll have to download separately.

Is FTP upload available?

Not yet, but we're currently thinking about adding it in the future.

What are the user levels available?

A website can have 4 different kind of users:

Founder: the user who created the website. Has full access to every aspect of the website. Can't be deleted.
Administrator: has full access to every section of the website. Can't delete the website.
Designer: can't change the settings or add new users to the website.
Editor: can manage only pages, forms and uploads.

I created a website, can an admin for that website delete me from it?

There are two kind of administrators (both with full rights on the entire website): 'Founder' and 'Administrator'. The former can't be deleted by anyone, so if you are the website owner and you are set as Founder you can be sure that your right to access that website will be protected.

What is a Website composed of?

A website is composed of three main pieces:

Layouts: are used to define what goes before and after the content of each page. A layout can be used to style groups of pages sharing the same design. You can create as many layouts as you want.
Pages: are used to create the content of your website. Each page can use a layout.
Includes: are used to create the CSS and Javascript foo you need for your website to work.

And then some more:

Uploads: there's no websites without files. Wether you need images, videos, archives or anything else, you can upload your files to Pagety and use them on your Pagety website.
Forms: if you need to create a contact form, launch notification form or collect any kind of data through a form, you can use this feature.

Do I have to put a link to Pagety.com on my Pagety hosted website?

You're not required to do it, but we'd be very happy should you decide to spread the love.

What are include/layout/page versions?

Sometime you just want to jump back in time and rollback to an old version of an include/layout/page, so we built a versioning system right into Pagety. If your plan allows it, you'll see the last 20 versions for each item.

Can you import my website to Pagety for me?

Of course, we can. Contact us and we'll get back to you with a quote.

Forms

Is there any way to export a form's data from my Pagety account?: Sure! You can export form's data by going to the form's data page and selecting the desired format. There are two formats available: XML and CSV.
Can I have an email sent to me every time a user submit a form?: Sure, if your plan allows it. When you create a form, you can decide wether you'd like an email sent to you every time a user submits a form and if the records should be saved to the DB.
Is there a delay between a user submitting a form and being actually able to see the data she submitted?: There is no delay at all! All the data is in real time.
How many form entries can I save on the database?: It depends on your plan. You can store a fixed amount of entries, or instances as we call them, during each 30 days cycle.
What this means is you don't have to wait for the next month to start before you can save more instances, because the number is always calculated for the past 30 days.
Is it possible to change the order of the fields in a form?: Of course. Go to the form page and on the bottom you'll see a list of fields: simply drag-and-drop them to change the order.
